My life with TBI.

My accident

My accident was on June 23rd 2001. I was taken to Amsterdam Memorial Hospital where they did tests and said there was nothing wrong with me so they sent me home but I did had severe pains in my stomach and vomiting. I spent the day of June 24th at home in bed. On early morning of June 25th I went downstairs where my little sister was sleeping and she called my mom on the walkie talkie and told her I needed her. My little sister saved my life. My mom brought me to our local hospital(Nathan Littaur) where they immediately preformed surgery to find out what was wrong with my stomach. They had found that I have a tear in my duedima(the intestine behind my bowels). They repaired that then while I was in recovery I had cardiac arrest and they tell me I died for 25 minutes and came back(I had no oxygen to my brain.) I was then flown to Albany MEdical Center by helicopter where 3 days later they had found that I also had a hole in my esophogus. A doctor whos name was Dr.Kueler had found this when he went in to check the first surgery to make sure everything was okay. Thats when he found the esophugas hole which then he called in another doctor who's name is Dr.Ilvis. Dr.Ilvis fixed the hole in my esophogas where now is great success. I still have the problem in my stomach where I recieve tube feeding through a tube in my stomach. Today is now October 27th and I came home all hospitals on October 3rd. I was released from albany on August 9th then transfered to sunnyview rehab center where I currently still attend on an outpatient basis 3 times a week. This is how I recieved my brain injury...
